Brendan Isaac Jones created Greensaw Design & Build in 2006. His goals were to introduce a firm dedicated to green building, kindness to clients, and impeccable work.
The company emphasized using reclaimed material. Brendan began installing salvage doors, moved on to renovating bathrooms and making furniture, then completed an entire home in the Rittenhouse area of Philadelphia with salvage baseboard, casement windows, doors, colonnades and mantles.
Soon it became apparent to Brendan that design did not need to suffer from a gap in communication between the owner and the contractor. After years of working in the carpentry trade – in unions, timber frame shops, on demolition, renovation, and barn-building crews – Brendan came to believe that the process of building – where one person has an idea and another has the ability to develop that idea in a built form – is a careful collaboration between builder and owner, a process predisposed to conversation. At Greensaw this conversation continues throughout the project – and often afterwards.
