Art Museum Floors

Client: Kate Hovde & Ken Kulak
Location: Art Museum area, Philadelphia

The testimonial essentially spells it out. Kate and Ken, along with their sons Josh and Noah, were a few of our favorite clients. Kind, patient, and with a clear eye for what looked right, Kate was a partner in making sure these floors came out looking as good as they did.

Client Testimonial

"We discovered Greensaw towards the end of a kitchen and dining room renovation project. Our first floor consisted of old red pine variable width floorboards in poor shape from age, multiple sandings, and a certain amount of abuse stemming from the renovation itself. About half of the contractors who walked in the door on the kitchen project thought we should replace the floor; the other half loved it, and urged us to keep it. We wanted to keep it, but it was clear that another drum sanding by your average floor company was not what was needed. We went looking for an alternative, and found Greensaw.

The Greensaw team not only did a wonderful job with the floor – they were a pleasure to work with. They listened to our questions and concerns, and were creative about proposing solutions. In addition to patching and tightening the floor in places, they used a range of gentler sanding methods (orbital sanders, and even hand sanders) to remove polyurethane off the old floor and even out some earlier patching so that the transition to the old flooring was less obvious. Knowing I was concerned about the toxicity of even the water-based polyurethane (we were living in the house at the time), they recommended and used a greener floor coating. Throughout the process they were prompt, considerate, responsive, and professional. It was also clear that they personally cared about the end result, which is a rarity in the construction business these days. The floor looks fabulous – far better than it did before the renovation ever began – and we hope to keep it for years to come."
