Display Box
for Multi-Media art

Client: Ed & Sharon Moy
Location: 11th & Pine St. Philadelphia

Who knows what Robert Rauschenberg had in mind for a display case when he finished this oeuvre. We came up with our own solution, using reclaimed oak from joists dovetailed with local black walnut. We inset quarter-inch laminated glass, and strategically cut our pieces of wood to take advantage of knot holes in the wood to ensure proper ventilation of the art piece.

Client Testimonial

"We purchased a Robert Rauschenberg multimedia piece which came from the gallery in a nondescript Plexiglas and plywood case. We were looking for a display case that would both enhance the art as well as provide the proper protective environment. Brendan Jones and his Greensaw design team were able to accomplish this by creating a beautiful handcrafted display case using reclaimed wood. The physical attributes of the wood, its history, and the handwork used to make the case without the use of nails and glue truly complemented the aesthetic of the art piece. Natural openings in the wood were purposefully included to allow proper ventilation and the tempered glass will keep it protected while allowing us to enjoy it. We thank Brendan and his team for their thoughtful design and their craftsmanship in improving our Rauschenberg!"
