Brooklyn Table

Client: Constance DeCherney & Chris Muir
Location: Brooklyn, NY

This project began when a friend, Constance Decherney, asked for a table. Thus began a long back-and-forth, touching on subjects ranging from stain colors to salvaged metal bases to the beauty of the state of Delaware. Constance, an able craftswoman, helped put the table together, contributing her ninety pounds wet to keep the top in place while we screwed it from beneath. We salvaged the metal base from the streets of Philadelphia, beating the scrappers to the punch, and spent quite a bit of time cleaning it with steel wool. The table was built with reclaimed longleaf pine, and stained ash to contrast with the bamboo flooring of Constance and her partner Chris's apartment. We delivered the piece the night of a party Constance was throwing for Chris – we were told no one was allowed to use it, including the Birthday Boy.

Client Testimonial

"Brendan and his crew at Greensaw created more than just the functional dining room table that we were hoping for; they designed the focal point of our apartment, a place for friends and family to gather and feel welcome. We wanted a table that would entice our friends to stay for hours and come back often – Brendan created just that.

The entire process – from idea generation to design to installation – was refreshingly collaborative and professional. Brendan carefully took note of our goals at the onset of the project and, applying his innovative approach to building and the expertise of his crew, improved upon our vision.

Working with Greensaw could not have been easier. Brendan's willingness to work around our schedule and to cover the distance between his studio in Kennett Square, PA and our apartment in Brooklyn was essential to completing the project. Perhaps even more importantly, he and his crew were able to meet our tight deadline, an even rarer feat."
