Jason was born and raised in Michigan, on the rugged north shores of Lake Huron. Descended from a long line of hands-on do-it-yourselfers, Jay makes a practice of seeing problems as opportunities, and combines his aesthetic as a sculptor with his efficiency of a carpenter. From an early age he has been interested in all forms of wood, from drift to petrified. This fascination with architectural salvage led him to University of the Arts, where he received a MFA degree in sculpture in 2004. He got work building sets for movies and commercials — and also as a trim carpenter before undergoing the rigorous and lengthy vetting and physical testing process for a Greensaw position — he finally proved himself beyond doubt through his efforts to nurse a baby squirrel fallen from a cornice we were replacing with a dropper and baby formula. Jason enjoys traveling, and is particularly interested in ruins, and the stories they contain — he'll be the first to draw parallels between Tikal in Guatemala and the urban jungles of the rust belt of America.
