A Salvage Job

Presbyterian church, 19th and Catherine St, Philadelphia
Bob Beatty from Provenance alerted us that there was over 4000 square feet of southern yellow pine tongue and groove flooring to salvage from a 19th-century Presbyterian Church in South Philadelphia. Thus followed a week of deconstructing organs, removing stain glass windows, and sawzalling cut nails from floors installed over a hundred years ago, whilst above us the timbers of the church were being deconstructed.
After the nails were pooled, the floors were wareHomed until they found a new owner. They were loaded into a box trip for the 200 mile trip to Virginia, where they were installed in an iceHome, and another historical home in Alexandria. The floors were sanded, conditioned, stained and polyed using a green water-based fumeless solution. The results would have made even a Presbyterian minister smile.
