21st & Pine Bookshelf

Client: Brendan Kelley
Location: 21st & Pine Street, Philadelphia
Project Manager: Brendan Jones

No great secret to these except how to build them plumb, level, and square on walls that were all over the place. Like the old-timers before us, we built them all on site, using mortise and tenon joints to take the weight of coffee books. We used oak, the heaviest of woods, and appropriate for stain, and had silent competitions over whose side had the tighter joints, and whose shelves kept the whiskey stick's bubble between the lines.

Client Testimonial

"Brendan Jones provided more than just skilled carpentry. He was able to apply creativity and vision to help us see our project from a completely different perspective. He was also able to navigate the architectural salvage process to find parts for our project that were stunning, appropriate and affordable. Brendan and Greensaw Design & Build have altered the outcome of this residential renovation project in a fantastic way."
